Welcome to the website of the
Corsham Community Area Network
CCAN is the partnership for the community area that includes Box, Colerne, Corsham and Lacock. Across Wiltshire there are 18 of these community area partnerships - independent groups with a remit to involve the local community and promote community planning
On behalf of the local community, CCAN seeks to:
Explore ways to identify issues and priorities
We are building up a wide-ranging network of community organisations, groups, clubs, societies, schools, churches and businesses as well as interested individuals in order to connect with as many local people as possible.
Reflect local concerns and ideas on tackling them in a Community Plan
We are looking to bring about change through a combination of encouraging local projects and finding ways to influence decision makers.
Maintain strong links with town and parish councils and the area board
We are engaging with them and other partners to build effective participation, consultation and community planning within the community.
Do you think you can influence local decision making?
Only 39% of people in this area say they can (2009 survey).
Let's see what we can do together to improve on that!
We are keen to hear your suggestions. This website is to let you know what's going on and how you can get involved. We welcome your ideas for improvement

South Place Corsham - Traffic Calming Trial
Having braved the weather to help monitor the impact of the traffic calming trial in South Place, Corsham, CCAN are now looking to bring together comments and reactions to provide some commentary to the data collected on traffic numbers. The trial was set up by Wiltshire Council, and backed by Corsham Town Council and is part of a larger scheme to establish a cycle network into and through the Town. The calming trial that ran between 16th and 30th April provided a test of a one way priority system that would result if a widened foot or cyclepath were installed to make the passage safer for cyclists and pedestrians. The scheme caused short delays and some frustration in peak times when traffic backed up quickly and this was reflected in comments on Twitter and in Corsham People. The Head Teacher at St Patrick's School commented in the Gazette and Herald that the scheme would help parents and children walking to school so Corsham Town Council and Wiltshire Council will need to consider these mixed views in terms of any permanent changes. If you have any comments regarding the calming arrangements or the intention to establish safer cycling and pedestrian access then please contact Kevin Gaskin by email to kevingaskinccan@hotmail.co.uk
